Because the institution trains them to be more of a criminal, they are separated from their lifelines, they have no hope and are around thugs all day, they come out worse. They need to rehabilitate. My wife use to be a CO and she said there is no hope with the system, they are set up for failure and she didn’t want to be a part of it anymore. She said they are treated like kids who are dependent on others and their lives are controlled, when they get out they don’t know how to act, some have probation to serve and money to pay but is hard for them to find jobs because of their status. Some people are decent and need a second chance and some rehab and some people are garbage that deserve prison life forever.

@ukmedicfrcs I guess you have to be on the inside to understand, America prisons need to be more like European prisons. They need to uplift. A lot of those guys don’t even deserve to be in prison, a lot of these small town justice is corrupt, I’ve experienced it first hand. Anyways it’s so much more complex than what I’ve explained so far. And American prisons are for profit, there is a reason America had the highest rate of incarcerated population

@CarlosPerez-wd8zo come on you can’t tell me we have a messed up justice system in America? Have you ever wondered why as a first world country we have the most incarcerated people? Why do people commit these crimes? Whatever the reason is it’s not important enough to tackle the issue. The same with mass shootings, say a prayer and forget about it a week later. I’m a gun owner too but some accountability needs to take place. We should fix or attack the root of the problem rather than deal with it afterwards.

@bryans.1710 yeah the Asians are doing something right? Maybe we can learn from them. Same with Europe, their prison systems are built to rehabilitate and the rate of re offending is super low, also crime is super low. Why is that? What can we learn from them and implement into our system? Should we limit guns? Idk

@jedinxf7 yes you got the right idea! It would be more than what the government is willing to invest in helping with the prisons. Absolutely agree with that. There are changes to be made but no one is willing to make the effort. I don’t believe in giving repeat offenders chance after chance but I believe in rehabilitation, these people get out and live amongst us, they need to act right. I also believe that some people are sent to prison for minor offenses that don’t deserve prison time and that could be dealt with in another way. Prison is not always the answer for some people but it’s profitable to send some there.
