He doesn’t have to extract the secrets of the universe just to amuse you; he doesn’t have to engineer more trinkets to make the life of the bourgeoisie even more pathetic; he doesn’t have to attempt a political career and be surrounded by career criminals and cretins; he doesn’t have to interact with the flowing masses of manipulated people if he doesn’t want to; it’s his life and he can spend his time anyway he chooses; unless you want to make him a slave? From which end of the telescope are you looking? So many people seek and proclaim freedom and so very few know its meaning. He can do anything he likes as long as he doesn’t hurt others or inhibit their legitimate desires. Just marvel at the exquisite transients nature creates. The life you describe as sad, others may see differently.
