The job of the FED is to use mostly monetary and some fiscal policy to manipulate markets so the banks can sell before the FED engineered crash and then buy back before the FED signals a reduction in the cash rate and a market recovery. And during the time between the FED engineered high and low cash rates, the banks use their cash to buy bonds to profit from the falling cash rate and the increased value of the bond. The banks win and the pension funds lose! It's a BIG CLUB and you ain't in it!
