Thom, I hope that people are not taking you seriously with any recommendation that one should vote for Hillary. Do you really want to entrust America's future to "I came, I saw, He died" Hillary and her war mongering Wall Street, Whitewater family. Anyway, if the FBI starts working for the people, Hillary may not be around for the election. I believe that people are getting past that Left-Right paradigm and are starting to think more independently. The term “Republicrats” always wakes me up from that false paradigm. If Clinton beats Bernie in the primaries, please consider Trump. He may be a deceitful, incompetent, narcissist that runs on thought bubbles, but that has been the characteristics required for success in the American corporate world for decades. Cruz is a corrupt delusional that is married to Goldman Sachs and Hillary is a war criminal owned by Wall Street. After Sanders, the alternatives go downhill rapidly.

The caller is mistaken, Trump doesn’t appoint his cabinet members; Trump is lucky if he can wipe his own ass. Just like most of Obama’s administration was selected by Citi Group (look it up), Trump’s administration was selected by the Oligarchs behind the “Trump” administration. Might I suggest you look at Mercer or possibly Adelson? Why do these Progressives/Liberals get it so wrong – all the time? Trump is a puppet; Hillary would have been a puppet; Obama was a puppet; and if you couldn’t see that Bush junior was a puppet, there must be something fundamentally wrong with you. The trick isn’t
remembering the positions within the administration; the trick is working out which of the executive staff have direct links to the Oligarchs and their agendas. Remember Nixon’s resignation letter was addressed to Kissinger. Most would currently know by now Pence is a puppet of Charles and David Koch.
Trump has been the perfect vector for the Oligarchs to take control. Prior to the election, many avoided Hillary because of her criminal warmonger past and many looked at Trump as the cleanest dirty shirt in the hamper. Remember, the Oligarchs bet on both possible outcomes in US federal elections. If you are in any doubt, consider the Oligarch positioning of Tom Perez with just enough margin not to be suspicious. These liberal-progressive cretins are playing checkers while the Oligarchs are playing multidimensional chess.
As for Russia bashing, not only is there no evidence; have you considered the US involvement in other nation’s electoral processes throughout history. If your memory is starting to fail you, might I suggest you research the CIA overthrow of the elected leader of Iran in 1953 where there is overwhelming evidence to show this act was to benefit Anglo-American oil companies. For something more recent, you could also look at the US overthrow of the elected government in Ukraine where Nuland admits the US spent 5 billion to facilitate the coup. If you have trouble finding this obvious evidence on YouTube,
might I suggest you research her discussion with Pratt that clearly indicates her intent to install a Western puppet Ukraine leader in her own words. That should be enough evidence to show Western lies and hypocrisy to any new-age intellectually challenged progressive idiot.
Thomas, why do you continue to conflate the DNC with the ideals of a real leftist? A real leftist is pro-union and anti-Imperialistic; the cretinous progressives and liberals of today accept the lies that support the Oligarch’s push for war. Are these new-age liberal-progressive cretins for real? Maybe they only absorb mindless rhetoric because they can’t read and the tools to carry out independent research elude them. No wonder Trump is president; with cretins like this pretending to be on the left of politics, most thinking
people had only a limited choice.

@nil981 : And take a look at Biden. In his 1988 run for president, he told an audience he had attended law school at Syracuse University on a "full academic scholarship", that he had been "named the outstanding student in the political science department" as an undergraduate at the University of Delaware, and that he had graduated from Delaware with "three undergraduate degrees". When confronted with the lies, Biden later admitted that these claims were "inaccurate." Biden was exposed as a plagiarist in a school paper and again in his political career when he plagiarized John Kennedy, Bobby Kennedy, and even the British Neil Kinnock.
So after his exposure as an inveterate liar and plagiarist caused him to drop out of the 1988 presidential run, he takes advantage of the dysfunctional memory, corrupted media, and short attention span of the people, and again runs for president. You may want to blame some of this on his oncoming dementia, but most likely he is just another psychopath running for the role of puppet president. At least when Trump lied, he actually exposed some truths. Like when he said in a CIA speech about Iraq, that the US should have taken the oil and may get a second chance. Or when he openly admitted the US was attempting to install their puppet Guiado in Venezuela because they wanted to access Venezuelan oil. Even Bolton followed by saying that he couldn't wait for US oil companies to profit from Venezuelan oil.
This tells you that psychopaths make up most of the US government and one should listen carefully when a foolish psychopath begins to explain the intentions of US plutocrats and their imperial militarism to use the CIA and US military to overthrow governments and kill for profit. Even Elon Musk said about the US government & CIA on Bolivia, "We'll coup whoever we want; deal with it". Again, a perfect corporate psychopath.

Hartmann; you've got the question wrong. There is no such thing as democracy in the US; just listen to your guest Greg Palast when he discusses how both sides of politics screw the people and intentionally corrupt elections. Just listen to Jimmy Carter when he tells you, "The US is an Oligarchy". Hartmann, your question should have been, "Can the Democratic Party Survive After Trump?" Without a boogeyman, some of the more intelligent liberal rubes may start directing their attention to the corruption of the Democratic Party itself. You know; those dangerous individuals who may have asked to see the content of the Podesta emails; they could really screw up future plans of the DNC and Democratic Party to screw their constituents.
The question you should be asking is, “What is the next deceptive scam to be used by the Democratic Establishment.” Now Trump is exiting stage right and "Russiagate" was a complete flop, but it did work to label both Jill Stein and Sanders as traitors when the mainstream media called them "Russian Assets". And throughout history, the oligarchs have pushed propaganda down the throats of their gullible rubes to either distract or convince these poor cretins to believe the lies “their” government and intelligence agencies tell them. If you want an interesting piece of history; even much of the Cold War was a scam. If you read Princeton history Professor, Kevin M Kruse's book, "One Nation Under God: How Corporate America Invented Christian America", you will see the oligarchs feared Washington (Eisenhower) much more than they feared the Soviets. Yes, the oligarchs feared the president who warned the people of the threat of the oligarchs' "Military Industrial Complex" in his outgoing speech, far more than the fabricated Soviet threat. This so easily explains the inverted "Missile Gap" and so much more.
So the big question isn't about the convenient fool Trump; it's about what scam will the Democratic Establishment create ow that Trump is dwindling to induce fear into its gullible, ignorant, and yet receptive rubes; rubes ready and receptive for their next round of brainwashing? And keep them running back to the bosom of covert treachery – the Democratic Establishment.
And remember Hartmann, you even interviewed Professor Kevin M Kruse on you show once, but sadly (or conveniently) you asked him all the wrong questions. When you select a guest that could spill the beans on the farce of US democracy, the crimes of Empire, and especially the treachery of the Democratic Party, you tend to have a preplanned avoidance strategy in place before you start the interview.

Given the intent of the GOP, yes it would gut Social Security given the opportunity. But remember, it was Clinton that actually screwed Social Security. Sure, Reagan started the process, but ONLY the treachery of someone then trusted by the people (Clinton) was capable of screwing his constituents and passing legislation to strip much of Social Security. And that goes to many other screwing as well (NAFTA, Deregulation, etc. etc.) but we're heading off topic now and I'm quite sure Hartmann doesn't want his audience remembering these facts.
And don't expect anything different from Biden. Just Google the two words "Biden" & "Social Security" and you will get a litany of truthful quotes from Biden about how he wants to crush Social Security. And when Biden told Wall Street, "If I'm elected, nothing would change", I don't believe Biden was talking about Social Security. When are these fools going to learn that US politics isn't about demo0cracy; it's about the oligarchs using all branches of government to screw the people as covertly and discretely as possible. Understand, the Democrats politicize their "Identity Politics" to divide-and-conquer and give the people the illusion someone is on their side. Suckers!

It was interesting to hear Messina say, 08:40 “So that the movement made in your party, whether it be Obama, Clinton, what have you; all of those when the one percent got richer, was that OK? Were you against what they were doing?” Yes Thomas, I understand this was just part of a partisan rebuttal on behalf of Messina, but within the rebuttal lies the truth. Do you see how awkward it is when you fail to criticize the Corporate Democrats and then Messina exposes the Corporate Democrats as Wall Street puppets. If you believe yourself to be a progressive and not a Limousine Corporate Liberal Democrat, why don’t you just acknowledge what you believe the Corporate Democrats to be instead of continually avoiding the issue? Your rebuttal of, 08:50 “I’m simply saying that the tax policy we had before Reagan came in with these obscene and absurd ideas that if you give more money to rich people somehow it is going to make poor people less poor is nonsense”, was evasive and understandably so.
Thomas, do you see how your refusal to call out the Corporate Democrats dilutes your “Progressive” arguments. It’s sad to watch you argue a narrative that is covertly opposed by the Corporate Democrats. I agree with all of what you said; the US prospered with a 91 percent top tax rate and Supply Side Economics was a total deception and farce by Wall Street, but your argument falls short when you fail to implicate the Corporate Democrats.

@ArmenianBishop : If you want to understand the intent of the Anglo-American Empire (to force the World to accept US Imperialism); and the lie that the US "Makes the World Safe for Democracy", may I suggest you read "War is a Racket" by Major General Smedley Butler (USMC). Here is just a small excerpt:
"I spent thirty-three years and four months in active military service as a member of this country's most agile military force, the Marine Corps. I served in all commissioned ranks from Second Lieutenant to Major-General. And during that period, I spent most of my time being a high class muscle-man for Big Business, for Wall Street and for the Bankers. In short, I was a racketeer, a gangster for capitalism.
I suspected I was just part of a racket at the time. Now I am sure of it. Like all the members of the military profession, I never had a thought of my own until I left the service. My mental faculties remained in suspended animation while I obeyed the orders of higher-ups. This is typical with everyone in the military service.
I helped make Mexico, especially Tampico, safe for American oil interests in 1914. I helped make Haiti and Cuba a decent place for the National City Bank boys to collect revenues in. I helped in the raping of half a dozen Central American republics for the benefits of Wall Street. The record of racketeering is long. I helped purify Nicaragua for the international banking house of Brown Brothers in 1909-1912. I brought light to the Dominican Republic for American sugar interests in 1916. In China I helped to see to it that Standard Oil went its way unmolested.
During those years, I had, as the boys in the back room would say, a swell racket. Looking back on it, I feel that I could have given Al Capone a few hints. The best he could do was to operate his racket in three districts. I operated on three continents."
Pay special attention to, " Like all the members of the military profession, I never had a thought of my own until I left the service. My mental faculties remained in suspended animation while I obeyed the orders of higher-ups. This is typical with everyone in the military service."
And even then many remained willingly brainwashed their whole lives and never question US Imperialism.

@ArmenianBishop : But I will say you are more honest than most. Many liberals appear to be so ashamed of the atrocities of the Empire, they willingly lie and hide behind the delusions of "Shining City on the Hill". The standard Clinton-Liberal refuses to openly acknowledge Empire, even when they hear the war criminal Clinton openly say, "We Came, We Saw, He died". Even when the war criminal Albright, after slaughtering half a million Iraqi children, then promotes Clinton in her run for president. So by just acknowledging Empire, you still deserve more respect than that sleazy liberal scum that hides behind the propaganda, lies, and deception from the mainstream media and Hollywood. It's just sad that you now attempted to justify Empire.

If you're expecting Biden to save Social Security, I have a bridge in Brooklyn I can sell you cheap. YouTube is filled with old videos where Biden is saying he's going to destroy Social Security. On Bernie Sanders' YouTube site, Bernie has a video labeled, "Biden's Record on Social Security", may I suggest you watch and learn. Avoid being mesmerized by the current Biden spectacle and watch some of these videos. And while you're stimulating your hippocampus, just remember Clinton who deregulated Wall Street, destroyed Social Security, and exported jobs (NAFTA) to make the plutocrats even richer while promising it would improve the US labor market for workers.
Remember Obama and his "Hope & Change" that resulted in, "I hope these rubes don't realize there's not going to be any change before my term is up". All Obama did was make Bush's temporary tax cuts for the wealthy permanent, sold the idea of drinking leaded water to the residents of Flint, and start seven more wars.
Remember Trump who said, "Drain the Swamp" only to refill it till it overflowed and added a few more Goldman Sachs crocodiles (e.g. Mnuchin) along the way.
Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me. Now how does that work for multiple times? How stupid does one have to be?
