  1. I’m always amazed how ubiquitous controlled opposition is within all branches of media, Hollywood, and politics. Take for example, when Pocan id defending Nancy Pelosi, 01:15 “they are going to try everything; they are going to go after Nancy Pelosi, they always do. But at the end of the day, people are way, way smarter than Republicans think they are”. True progressives, I have some news for you; Pelosi does not have your interests at heart; she has been well reimbursed ($110M) by Wall Street for her treachery, and that will only continue. It’s interesting how Pocan can consider Pelosi as the choice of the people in the same breath he was discussing Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Nancy ("We have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it.") Pelosi is just a minion of the oligarchs just as Pocan is looking more and more to be. Sorry Hartmann, Pocan appears to be just another stooge of Wall Street. He comments about the Republican tax bill that transfers trillions onto the debt of the American people, but that is obvious for everyone to see. He talks about the corruption and the removal of social security as if it was just the Republicans; what about the Clinton attack on social security; what about the Clintons’ job export through NAFTA; and what about the Democratic Leadership Council where the Clintons and Gore used oligarchs’ (Koch) money to throw the American people under the bus in their “Third Way” strategy to align with Wall Street? Yes, Pocan is looking more and more like controlled opposition. So we hear Pocan running the tired old strategy of pitting Democrat against Republican with him saying, 01:31“People are way smarter than the Republican operatives”. For a start, people are not smarter than the Republican operatives or the Corporate Democratic operatives that manipulate and fool them daily. How many still believe in Obama’s “Hope and Changed” promised where the only hope that came to fruition was the hope the oligarchs had that noting would change during the Obama administration. We hear Pocan considering Pence as an alternative to Trump when Pence is owned lock, stock, and barrel by the Koch Brothers. I believe it may be better to have a fool masquerading as president than a know fascist in the oval office. In reality, politicians like Pocan are just the same as those you would find in the Republican Party except they have to put a lot more effort in differentiating themselves from their counterparts to hide the similarities. So Hartmann and Pocan are just inviting you to again register at Hotel California; you can check out but you can never leave. You will be captured by the “lesser of two evils” rhetoric and you will stay on this ride for the rest of your lives.

  2. I am assuming you are not some shill hoping to continue the bipartisan scam and are just someone that doesn't understand what is meant by controlled opposition. With your generic response of the overused and misunderstood "straw-man", I assume you may be the later. So, haven't you worked it out as yet; haven't you woken up? Are you one of the last few dupes that still watch this dwindling garbage? Don't you understand Hartmann is the oligarchs' plant to keep both the oligarchs' parties (Republicrats) in contention? Don’t you understand he has, and will continue to promote the “lesser of two evils” until his bosses stop paying him or they nail the lid on his coffin? He spends most of his time pushing the differences to ensure at least the Corporate Democrats win and always shuns any talk of a third party. How long have you been watching the show? It wasn’t long ago Hartmann was pushing “progressives” to only consider the Democratic Party. You and your pathetic “corporate lock on both parties”; have you ever heard Hartmann recommend voting for a third party – NO! Hartmann can’t afford to take a third party seriously; his bosses wouldn’t appreciate Hartmann promoting real democracy; they want the Democrat-Republican pendulum to continue swing back and forth. So you will notice Hartmann has little time for real progressive platforms and what would be considered as progressive policies for the people. Hartmann is no fool; he understands how to run a subtle controlled opposition and if I had time, I would break down Pocan’s statements and identify the subtle messages. You should listen to Pocan carefully and see if you can pick up the subtext in his statements. Hartmann and his compadres will continue this subtle scam, fooling rubes and the gullible hoping to get a few converts for his mates on Wall Street to keep the Republicrat scam perpetuating. And you fell for it! Now who feels like a fool? Haven’t you ever asked the question of: Why do the same oligarchs (Kochs) who fund and benefit from the American Legislative Exchange Council also funded Clintons’ Democratic Leadership Council? Have you ever wondered why Pocan would prefer Pence to Trump; Pence the politician in Washington most aligned to the interests of the Koch Brothers? Or is this a bit past your pay grade? This is NOT being a straw-man; this is asking awkward questions. May I suggest you question your bromance and start using your brain.

  5. coolmodelguy: I agree with your views and would also like to live in such a world. I have been fighting Neoliberalism and would like to return to at least a Roosevelt New Deal World. Before the New Deal, the Depression had created many effective socialist movements and a strong union movement and this allowed a change of policy. Sadly this is not possible today. Unlike in Roosevelt's day where his administration was effectively forced to introduce the New Deal due to the power of these movements threatening a mass rebellion, no such networks and affiliations exist today. Today few Labor unions and no viable socialist movements exist, so the American worker has NO leverage and that then was the result of devious and clever strategies by the oligarchs. Today we see these oligarchical strategies continuing but in complex and convoluted ways. It wasn't the fascist Republicans that screwed the American people; it was the Democratic Party in the 1990s that screwed the American people. Yes, the party continually promoted by Hartmann as the lesser of two evils and the “only” alternative, is the real enemy of the American people. I listen to the subtext in Hartmann's narrative and see a duplicitous traitor to the American people. The last time he had Thomas Frank on the program I was expecting Frank to call him out, but I forgot Frank was there to sell a book and he allowed himself to be guided away from the more controversial contradictions in his narrative. If you make a narrative too simple, it doesn't give the less able more understanding; it usually creates a platform by which a duplicitous presenter can introduce a simplistic narrative that pushes his intended deception without question. Alex Jones is an excellent, if overt example of this strategy. For some reason when they wish to propagate propaganda, those with an oligarch agenda pride themselves in collecting gullible fools; as a multitude of fools easily deceived and militant behind a covert agenda may stop others from thinking. What you have done in your narrative is replicate Hartmann's strategy by highlighting the stories you can without ever questioning the Democratic Party. For this strategy to exist, only the Republican Party is a target; never the Democrats. This is why Hartmann's minority narrative exists; this is why Hartmann's tax narrative exists; this is why Hartmann's health narrative exists; and this is why Hartmann's income and wage inequality narrative exists. Yes, all these issues are real but like Trump, they are just the symptom and Not the Cause; the cause (Republicrats) Hartmann will never discuss. These issues are selected because Hartmann never has to discuss the problem you originally pointed out, “not a word on real methodologies for breaking the two party hold, or the corporate lock on both parties”. Here you were honest in your assessment even if you were directing it at me instead of the real culprit – Hartmann. So it is my hope you will stop making excuses for duplicitous traitors so obviously working for the interests of the oligarchs. The oligarchs, who have created the Neoliberal World you apparently, hate so much. I hope you may wake to the fact that Trump, like nearly all before him, is just a puppet of the oligarchs and Hartmann is most probably paid to convince you to direct your rage at the intended target (Trump) instead of those who created this Neoliberal World (Republicrat Oligarchs). It’s just another example of using a shiny bauble to redirect the attention of many away from the real threat. May I suggest you reread Orwell’s 1984 and pay special attention to “Two Minutes Hate”; I am sure this will enlighten you. Read the whole book and see if you can correlate strategies, tactics, and events with those of today. It concerns me when you create excuses for duplicitous traitors like Hartmann, “Hartman is supporting the best of what he knows” – Wrong. Hartmann always attempts to present himself as a smart man and in many ways I believe he actually is intelligent; so please don’t construct unacceptable excuses for Hartmann for reasons you, yourself probably only understand. You should also understand it makes my skin crawl to see Hartmann’s name on the same page as Chris Hedges and given Hedges genuinely fights for your apparent cause, “breaking the two party hold”, you may wish to ask why Hedges hasn’t been on Hartmann’s show for such a long time. To understand what Hartmann actually should be doing, you should view the latest Hedges’ “On Contact” with Nick Brana who is the founder and chief executive director of Movement for a People's Party. Isn’t that what you wanted, a Peoples’ Party? Hartmann will continually push the Democratic Party down your throat as the only alternative. I’ve never found any traitorous bias in Hedges’ show. You have seen Hartmann’s strategy of allowing the questionable and simplistic to go unchecked. You have seen Hartmann give simplistic answers to complex issues and in doing so, leave out many relevant points to bias a discussion. So learn from Hartmann’s treachery and be careful creating a simplistic narrative so the fools of society can pretend they understand; a simple narrative is often used to manipulate these fools as they are always looking for easy simplistic answers when reality is exceedingly complex and designed to confuse. So those who are too lazy or apathetic to find the real truth usually vote based on biased input, and in doing so, do a considerable disservice to democracy. When it comes to the modern World of Neoliberalism, some of the concepts may appear easy to understand but there are layers of deception and spin many will have difficulty understanding; so they might as well get started now. To put it simply; today’s Democracy is just Sleaze manipulating Morons.
