Hartmann again, is only half right. The Libertarian movement might have been named in the 1950, but the movement itself has been around since at least the start of FDR's New Deal. The contemporary Libertarian movement was spawned in organizations like the American Liberty League in conjunction with religious movements and Hollywood to sell Capitalism as a Christian principle. In reality, they were just selling Austrian economics to the rubes. In 1933, the plutocrats (e.g. the DuPonts, S.B. Colgate, Sewell Avery, John Raskob, Alfred P. Sloan, Elihu Root, and Grayson M. P. Murphy) backed a failed coup against the Roosevelt administration in response to the New Deal.
It was in 1940 when the Rockefeller Foundation brought Ludwig von Mises to the US. Rockefeller funded and set up Mises at the Rockefeller University of Chicago from where he started pushing libertarian propaganda. And in the 1990s Libertarianism came into its own when it recruited the Democratic Party and its affiliates to the libertarian cause. The Austrian-Libertarian Charles Koch funded the Clinton-Gore “Democratic Leadership Council” and the Democrat “Third Way” was born – selling out to Wall Street. It didn’t take long until Billy boy was recruited by the plutocrats to sell NAFTA, Financial deregulation, and the winding back of Social Security to the rubes. And the shills like Hartmann were recruited to tell these poor rubes it was all an unfortunate “mistake” by Clinton and the Democratic establishment, as they didn’t know what they were doing. So don’t ever forget – “Vote Blue No Matter Who”.

Apart from Cuba, China and Vietnam, it’s difficult to name a “Socialist” country on the planet; and even China is what is usually called State Capitalist. The Anglo-American plutocrats and their minions (CIA, FBI) would never allow a purely "Socialist" country to exist as it will expose the exploitation and oppression of the capitalist system. Remember in 1917 during the Bolshevik Revolution, the western capitalists of Britain, US, and Japan were the first to invade the Soviet Union with 10,000 troops – it didn’t succeed. However, the plutocrats and their minions (CIA, FBI) will allow capitalist countries with varying amounts of socialist policies to exist as the plutocrats are slowly eroding these socialist policies (NHS in Britain) around the world as we speak. Take a look at the CIA overthrow of Greece in the 1960s or the CIA backing of the slaughter of half a million Indonesian socialists under Suharto, or the US ongoing trade embargo of Cuba. Understand the "Socialist" Venezuela that Obama labeled as a "Threat to US National Security" is a capitalist country. The only reason Washington continues to label them as "Socialist" is because Venezuela has the largest oil reserves on the planet and the Anglo-America plutocrats want the oil. Washington has already stolen the CITGO Oil Company from the Venezuelans and England has stolen their gold, but as the Venezuelan people suffer under US sanctions in an attempt to install a puppet regime; the plutocrats’ focus is on what's under the ground in Venezuela - oil.

@tomjohn8733 So many questions and only one lifetime. It would take me an hour to explain the nuances of "Identity Politics". A simple example - one small facet of identity politics is when some element of a minority group (e.g. feminism) is politically weaponized. For example - if you don't like Gina Haspel, it isn't because she was a torturer; it's because she is a woman and therefore you must be a misogynist. Or - if you are critical of Obama because he started 7 wars and destroyed Libya and Syria, then you must be a racist. As I said, Identity politics has many nuances; this is but one example.
As for whether anthropogenic climate change is real - it is. The "right to life - pro choice" is simple. The Republicans needed a way to stay in the political race, so they targeted those whose religion was against abortions. It was purely political by the Republicans; there was nothing moral in their intent. As for the rite to life itself, that's a complex issue. Like anything else, abortions can be abused. And not everyone makes rational choices.
But "as for both parties being similar is like saying we are all human". Now there is an interesting twist. I have found that Darwinian capitalism embraced by both Republicans and Democrats is driven by those in society with psychopathic and sociopathic tendencies. Some estimates show 30% of executives are psychopaths and many others in the high ranks of the corporation show psychopathic tendencies. Psychopaths whose amygdala does not function like others usually exhibit a deficit of empathy; and these anti-human advantages combined with a little Machiavellian cunning allows them to more easily work their way top the top of the heap. These psychopaths have a clear advantage over others, as in a capitalist system emotions can be a hindrance. And it's not just the amygdala (emotion) that is different in psychopaths; the frontal cortex (judgement) is also compromised and physically smaller. In fact, the brain physiology of a psychopath is so different, many psychiatrists consider this physiology to be that of another species of human. So it is definitely possible your statement, "we are all human" is not quite correct. Look it up; it's interesting research.

@thefrenchareharlequins2743 : Forget about "anti-gun", "social conservatism", and especially "identity politics"; they are just fabrications by the plutocrats’ politicians and mainstream media to trigger a reaction in the population and to exploit primordial emotions. The plutocratic families have spent centuries using compartmentalization to create societal boundaries by molding tribal differences between groups, and then manipulating and exploiting the primordial tribal emotions generated by those differences. The contemporary culture everyone now accepts as "normal" has been slowly engineered over decades by the plutocrats' politicians, their mainstream media, and Hollywood to Divide-and-Conquer to advantage their interests? Adversarial politics is just a stage act and Democrats, Republicans, and others (e.g. Libertarians) all work for the same masters. Today the plutocrats own most leftist groups, the remaining Unions, and even the "Democratic Socialists of America" LMAO. Understand the Austrian-Libertarian plutocrats like Charles Koch are not only the ex-business partners of libertarians (e.g. Ron Paul), the Kochs also funded the Clinton-Gore "Democratic Leadership Council" for the "Third Way" Democratic Party establishment. And now the plutocrats are washing and recycling their Republican stooges into the Democrat fold. Ever notice how many liberals in Ellen's audience cheered when Ellen danced with the war criminal George Bush? Ever notice how many liberals now embrace the FBI after their Cointelpro history of killing leftists and attempting to destroy the left movement? This is all a vast Hollywood production straight out of Edward Bernays' playbook "Propaganda", where the politicians are actors and the mainstream media are the script writers. It's all about manipulating rubes on a vast scale using all their resources. There are those few who know it's all a show and the vast majority that just watches in ignorance and wonder - which one are you? There are even those extremely gullible rubes who still believe in Trump's "Drain the Swamp" or Obama’s "Hope & Change". LMAO
Understand it was the "Rockefeller" Foundation that imported Austrian economics into the US in 1940 when they expatriated von Mises from Europe into Rockefeller's University of Chicago. Given the business history of the Rockefellers, they weren't doing that for the people's benefit.
And never forget Greenspan was the apprentice of Ayn Rand, the author of the Austrian-Libertarian's favorite book "Atlas Shrugged". Few people ever get to learn of the irony that Ayn Rand was on government social security when she died. But don't take my word; make sure you do your own independent research - and that means stay away from corrupt sources that attempt to rewrite history like the Mises Institute. This scam is vast; you have no idea. As George Carlin famously once said, "It's a Big Club, and you ain't in it".

@Temporary Account : I was going to say that maybe it's not that she likes Trump, but that she hated the corruption and hypocrisy of the Democratic establishment. But on reflection, it appears she is just one of those Libertarian rubes embedded in the Austrian-Libertarian cult that switches off their discriminatory skills and blindly watch Ron Paul and read Mises Institute propaganda. The Austrian-Libertarian cult is exactly the same and a mirror image as the Democratic cult; both have been designed to be all-encompassing propaganda machines and it's very hard to break through. One has as much chance of stopping someone in the Libertarian cult from watching the Ron Paul Liberty Report or something similar backed by Charles Koch and the John Birch Society, as one has asking someone embedded in the Democratic cult from listening to MSNBC and Rachael Maddow.
And both Democrats and Republicans have been critical of government. When Clinton was elected, he said, "This is the end of Big Government" and then went on to deregulate, privatize, crush social security and offshore jobs. When the Republicans were elected (Reagan), they said "The Government was the problem", but it meant the same thing. And Clinton just finished what Reagan couldn't.
The plutocrats want to remove the voice of the people and the best way of achieving that is by crushing the people's elected government and building up the plutocrats' private government. That certainly have achieved that goal.
So I can understand your delivery person even if I don't agree with her reasoning, but she should learn how to join the dots. The plutocrats love turmoil and fear; they use it to divide and conquer. The more fear you can create in the minds of the rubes, the narrower their tunnel-vision becomes, the more fearful they become, and the easier they are to control.
