Thomas, comparing MSNBC and FOX is like comparing the Democrats and Republicans is like comparing syphilis and gonorrhea. Whether you lie by omission or present a blatant lie; it's still lying. MSNBC totally avoiding the content of the Podesta emails is far more threatening to US democracy than the obvious lies that come from FOX. Most people understand a lie when it is direct but when it is hidden behind a cloak of silence, it can be devastating. Most still don't understand the Democratic Party and especially the corporate DNC treachery that kneecapped the most popular candidate (Sanders). If those who you have on your show are correct (Thomas Frank, Chris Hedges, Richard Wolff, etc.) and the reason for the existence of Trump was the revulsion of the Clinton legacy and the corrupt DNC & Democratic Party, don't you think any comparison between such fecal options is really an insult to one's intelligence. Thomas, by now I had hoped you would have understood it's the system that's at fault. You can spend all your time being critical of the Wall Street Republicans and avoid criticizing the Wall Street Democrats, but until you look at the whole you will never understand the problem. What you are seeing is a population given no real choice and being asked to make a choice; and that can be frustrating. Combine that with political pundits pushing them every which way with deception and lies and you really have a problem. Don't you think the people know they're getting screwed every time they go to vote; knowing one of the two oligarch owned parties is the only choice they have? It would be very sad if we returned to this debate in a decade or two and we found the population still debating "the lesser of two evils" and caught in the oligarchs' fake democratic trap.

The sad part of all of this is Wall Street has always played a role in politics. The consolidation of media ownership and "Citizens United" certainly consolidated the oligarchs control of the fake political process, but the oligarchs have always been in control. People look at Roosevelt as a politician of the people just because of the New Deal. Roosevelt was forced into the New Deal by threats of revolution by the Communist, Socialist, and Union movements and he even admitted he saved Capitalism. But when a true politician of the people (Henry Wallace) who had the popular vote came to stand for president, the DNC of the day did a Bernie Sanders and kneecapped him and installed the Wall Street compliant Trueman. Only looking at recent history distorts ones perception of what is possible. It is possible to have democracy but not with a materialistic, ignorant, lazy and apathetic population feverishly accepting the short term benefits of empire and not looking at the consequences. You can see this in the recent statement by the puppet president Trump; justifying arm sales to Saudi Arabia on the basis "if we don't, someone else will"; and the immorally corrupt morons who vote, accept this without question. In my opinion, this immoral acceptance is based on the historical unquestioning of the premise of Manifest Destiny and the Monroe Doctrine that has corrupted the population.

@PeterMayer - Not another corporate democrat or are you that deluded you consider yourself a "progressive"! I understand the truth isn't pleasant; especially when you realize you have been the recipient of a coordinated and intentional scam, but if you do a little research yourself you will learn the truth. You need to switch off the CIA-Hollywood propaganda machine and learn how to read. Hollywood targets the apathetic imbeciles who have no intellectual integrity and no trouble conflating entertainment and history; and sadly this gets reinforced by state sanctioned history books. Buy a copy of Howard Zinn's "The People's History of the United States" and start the path to truth instead of the lies the Anglo-American oligarchs have imposed on you. I can understand if you are ex-military you might be feeling a little confused waking to the fact you have been working for the interests of the oligarchs, but isn't it better to know the truth. At least review the "Church Inquiry" into the CIA and if you have time, review "Operation Mockingbird". Or would you prefer to live in a world of lies and deception - your choice. Natasha sends her regards. Boris is also amazed how effective contemporary McCarthyism is on a weak mind.
