  1. It hasn't all been a disaster. I was wondering why the US was investing heavily in fracking in the early 2010s; at the time it made no financial sense; it couldn't be financially justified given the price of LNG at the time. But when you combine that with the destruction of Nord Stream, it makes all the sense in the world. So it hasn't been a complete disaster for everyone. After all, this is reflected in the words of Lord Hastings Lionel Ismay (NATO’s first Secretary General), who said the purpose of NATO was to “keep the Soviet Union out, the Americans in, and the Germans down.” I believe the US (NATO & Wall Street) may have achieved their goal.
