Sadly the New York Times has correctly explained the effect of oligarchy but falters on the cause. One of the significant reasons democracy is a farce in the US is because of a mainstream media owned by the oligarchs and controlled to keep the population ignorant and compliant. And the corruption within the New York Times is complicit in the intentional dumbing down of the voting public. So why are you running this scam New York Times? Even a Newspaper whose ethics has been compromised for so long must realize the effect of oligarchical rule. Yes, there is populism and demagogues and White Supremacists but there is one underlying cause – oligarchical control; and the New York Times is complicit in the deception. So when are the “bought and paid for” editors of the New York Times going to stop using the excuse of “National Security” when one of their reporters presents a story for publication that could make the oligarchs uncomfortable?
So New York Times have you forgotten Chris Hedges; remember when he was forced out when attempting to tell the truth. Does anyone actually believe it was a mistake the New York Times pushed WMDs when the Anglo-American oligarchs were justifying and targeting Iraq for destruction? No, it has the smell of a corrupt media outlet pushing the oligarchs’ narrative to manipulate a population with fake intelligence so the poor misinformed fools would accept the Anglo-American oligarchs’ illegal war of aggression.
Sadly, the New York Times continues to use the US democracy as a frame of reference and this creates the construct for a false argument. How many examples do I have to give of the mechanisms the oligarchs use to suppress democracy and remain in control? Consider the Electoral College, the Democratic Party’s Superdelegates, Gerrymandering, etc. etc. and when you are exhausted with the obvious, watch Greg Palast’s documentary, “The Best Democracy Money Can Buy”. And you don’t have to limit your analysis to the electoral system; you may wish to consider the Princeton statistical study showing Government policy has no correlation with the wishes of the public. Even Jimmy Carter admits the US is not a democracy but an oligarchy. So New York Times, why are you inferring the US is a Democracy? The New York Times is just an oligarch controlled propaganda outlet? Democracy cannot exist without an informed population and the New York Times is doing its best to suppress relevant facts.
For anyone interested in understanding how the oligarchy manipulates the people and transforms their government into a fascist oligarchy, might I suggest you read Kevin Kruse’s book, “One Nation Under God; How Corporate America Invented Christian America”. This Princeton history professor has done an incredible job of showing much of the history of the US since the New Deal is a construct of the oligarchs as you may have guessed from the title. From the context of this book it is not difficult to understand how the majority of the mainstream media is used to propagandize the population and convince them they are under attack so their tax dollars can be transferred to the oligarchs within such fascist entities as the Military Industrial and Intelligence Complex. Remember, the CIA along with Saudi Arabia admits to funding, arming and training terrorist groups to be used by the oligarchs as part of US foreign policy. These Islamic Terrorists are used to create instability, terrorism, and as a mercenary force to do the bidding of these same oligarchs in nations these oligarchs wish to control. Which nations you might ask; for a start, the 7 countries in 5 years that the US government was going to destroy so eloquently stated by General Wesley Clark in the famous video. The video is worth viewing; it’s on YouTube; just search “7 countries in 5 years”.
So New York Times , you are expecting people to accept your questioning the democracy of other nations while accepting the democratic domestic farce of the US appears to be the height of hypocrisy. But there is one thing I have learned from all of this; when the government suppress information in the name of “National Security”, the government has a different meaning of the word “nation” to that of the people. The word “nation” in government lingo means the oligarchs and their army of corporate sycophants. When the government invokes “national security” its intent is to secure the interests of the oligarchs.
