So here is some contradiction in the statement, 01:45 “Get rich, live the dream, everybody’s rooting for you; but don’t screw over every single person that you’ve ever met in your life, or anybody that’s ever worked for you to get rich.” It appears you forget in a capitalist system with expected ongoing exponential growth, a capitalist must continue to extract more and more from the workers to increase “productivity” either by employing smarter workers or by working his current workers harder. Remember, the prime function of a CEO and Corporate Board is profit; nothing else. If the CEO considers employee well being or unregulated externalities; they can be prosecuted under the law.
In fact, unless you haven’t noticed, capitalism works by leverage, dominance and exploitation and those who are still ignorant of this fact have been well programmed by the system. The system works by the capitalist selling the workers’ efforts at a profit which funds the operation and the surplus creates wealth for the employer. I’m not saying change from capitalism; I’m saying just accept it for what it is; mostly exploitation. Pretending this anything other than exploitative Darwinism where psychopaths and sociopaths can thrive is being totally self delusional. As for the few that may accumulate wealth without exploitation, I say good luck to you and wish you the best, but this is only a minuscule number in the sea of psychopaths that exploit and dominate for personal satisfaction and gain. Again, pretending it’s anything else is doing yourself and most workers an injustice. I know it may be difficult to see the World for what it is but try it for once; it’s far more satisfying that watching Hollywood propaganda that sugar coats reality.
All I say is if you want to keep capitalism return to the days when the Union movement and the Socialist movements pushed Roosevelt to implement his New Deal. It’s the government’s job to be accountable to the majority, not be owned by the few. Some say we have tried that before and the oligarchs spent considerable effort and fortune reversing it to the point where inequality has well surpassed the 1920s. I understand Einstein defined insanity as doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results, but what are you going to do?
