I always considered the Niva the ultimate survivalist utilitarian vehicle that can be repaired using simple workshop tools. The next thing you will be telling me is that the Niva now has power steering so when the pump or belt fails, it's an accident looking for a place to happen. Given the absurdity of the cost of modern western vehicles and their maintenance and spare parts, this could be the car of the future for a decimated western middle class. I didn't see any "market adjustment ($US5000)" or "compulsory extras ($US1500)" or "Nitrogen filled tires ($US500) on the out-the-door price of $US 8,500.
