Russia was a Western country, when the Jewish Bolsheviks (Eastern people) killed the Royal Family who all had blood ties to western Europe Royal Families, they did a lot of ethnic cleansing of the European Russian population, this changed Russia ethnically and culturally to the east slightly, but it's a middle ground really.
