  1. I did it this year and don't know if that's why I got an astonishing crop of tomatoes like never before: 40 on my one plant which grew when I must have eaten a tomato outside and a seed escaped. I put it in a sunny position outside and watered it with the mixture twice a week. Maybe commercial growers buy better cropping varieties than an amateur gardener can buy. I've kept some seeds so I'll see how they grow next year.

I buy Yorkshire grown tomatoes from an outdoor market stall, I don't know which variety or whether they are hand picked, anyway I must have eaten one outside because a tomato plant was growing and this year I wasn't going to bother. I re-planted it in a sunny position outside because I didn't want it taking up room in my tiny greenhouse for other stuff. To my great surprise I have had 40 tomatoes off it! I, nor my Dad, has ever had so many from one plant. I have kept some seeds so I'll see how they go next year.

  4. Same here, Yorkshire grown at £1 for 20 in summer on the outdoor market stall. Or sometimes I buy Blackpool tomatoes. Iceland, £1 for 6. Crazy, but people buy them. Walk out of Iceland and slightly off to one side is the market stall.
