  1. Read the title of this presentation, the clue is right there. Mary Shelley definitely wasn't "modern".

  2.  @thetruerift  I think the distinction "modern" does have currency here, as Frankenstein is of a d8stinctly different, earlier style. It's early science-fiction, but of a very different style.
