  11. maybe you aren't old enough HK never had democracy or independence. fellow youtuber johnny harris covers its colonial years well. from 1997, HK were still 2nd rate citizens despite with its leader afraid of upsetting Jiang, Hu or Deng. HK 2016 was superior to HK 1996 as the folks had social security & weren't 2nd Class citizens.
