  7.  @GODOBER  The USSR was a huge ' empire ' following it's fragmentation power struggles were inevitable. Yugoslavia a classic example. Did the ' West ' deal with that country in in a truly fair way ? No! The issues in say the Ukraine & the Crimea are historically complex. Ukrainians have good reason to mistrust ' the old enemy ' as Stalin & the Bolshivics caused immense suffering, as well as loss of territory. What with mass replacement of populations with ethnic Russians. This is the situation Putin inherited. Given that, who could have dealt with it better than Putin? The Chechnya Republic, ??
