  1. We all know, but it's not stated that the Bolsheviks were instrumental in establishing the Soviet state and were almost to a man Jewish. Therefore when the Holodomor took place ( millions of Ukrainians starved to death on account of the aforementioned) in the Ukraine, I rather think they viewed it as payback?
