Here's my bottom line: Such legislation is toying with lives. There are those who could and would use arms to effect to save themselves, their bodily integrity, their property. Those people would be worse off under government than if government had not existed. The only way to be absolutely sure they are better off, is to not inhibit their access to and use of arms for self defense. That's rationalism, not statistics, and it makes the statistics a moot point.
