@CaneFu You were wrong about agnostic theism being capable of existing. You're wrong about the Jehovah's Witnesses beliefs, and you're definitely way wrong with your generalizing (almost bigoted) comment about Muslim beliefs. And Wikipedia is a source that we can both use, so it's what I quote. Deal with it. Don't get pissy because you get proven wrong.
1
@CaneFu Your problem is is that you're taking "life after death" and giving definition to those three words when "life after death" is a belief system, not only 3 words. Just admit you made a mistake please so we can move on.
1
@CaneFu You really don't think calling a group of people dumb for half an hour because of what they have faith in is a hate speech? You're being grossly dishonest. To say, "Here is my side of the debate of creationism vs. Darwinism," is one thing, "Creationists are just retarded," is another matter entirely. I'm an atheist and I'm ashamed to wear the same title as this man.
1
@CaneFu You clearly didn't read mine when I quoted the definition of life after death which squarely proved you wrong with an impartial third party source.
1
@CaneFu You don't sit there and call someone who respects other people SPINELESS and WRONG. I'll tell you one thing, if you don't respect people's freedoms and right, then you can move to fucking China or some other equally destitute hellhole that will welcome a totalitarian like you with open arms. The FREE world will be much better off without you. I can't believe you'd spit in the face of every soldier who has ever died defending freedom and rights. YOU ARE A PIECE OF SHIT!
1
@CaneFu I'm granting NO ONE special treatment. If someone goes to the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster, I'm not going to ridicule them for it. If someone from the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster maliciously flies a plane into a building, I'm not going to hate all members of the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster. The line of thinking the Mr. Dawkins is going down ends with "Die Endlösung." Genocide.

@CaneFu Religion isn't science. That's why it's called religion and not science. To attempt to refute one's religion with science is fallacy and, furthermore, an exercise in futility. There may be an extradimensional, personable being through whose will our universe came to be. Then again, there may be no such an entity. But the point is, this is all about religion, not science.
1
@CaneFu They may have conflicting views with science, but science is not viewed the same as religion -- even by Muslims.
1
It's ridiculous that a scholarly man such as this wastes his time comparing religion and science.
1
@CaneFu Religion was never considered a science, and your statement to prove otherwise actually proves you wrong. Catholicism may have been crossed by "blaspheming" scientists like Galileo, but that just proves that religion was not science even at that time as they had scientists like Galileo.

@sariahtea All he is doing is putting other people down for their beliefs. He sold his soul.
1
@sariahtea All I hear is a half an hour of him repeating, "Religious people are dumb." Of course he spends the half hour enumerating why he thinks they're dumb, but it's the basic gist of the message. I'm intolerant of intolerance. In my eyes, he might as well be a KKK member talking about how black and Jewish people are dumb.
1
@CaneFu My point is that you're wrong that resurrection equivalent to life after death and you're wrong that Witnesses believe in life after death. This furthers my point that I'm not wrong but instead right.
1
@CaneFu Clearly you didn't learn well, because you have one of their most basic tenants wrong.
1
@CaneFu And BTW, did you ever look up agnostic theist? I think this whole "agnostic theist" thing shows how stupid you are when it comes to peoples' belief in a deity. Just because *you* didn't know about it, it must not exist. And yet it still exists. And that's your logical fallacy in a deity: Just because *you* don't know about it, it must not exist. Do you understand how wrong that is?
1
@CaneFu Do you do this frequently? Don't talk to me about straw man arguments (not sure how I did that) when you're making ad hominem attacks regarding my choice of language. I can cuss up one side and down another, but that doesn't make me any less intelligent nor knowledgeable, but it does mean you just pissed me off. *If* you were a soldier, I can only imagine you had some God-fearing people watching your back out there, so the last thing you should do is be calling them idiots.
1
@lllwindrunner After arguing with this CaneFu guy for the last day, it's clear he will never accept that he's wrong even when it's blatantly clear he is.
1
@CaneFu Uhm. You went to the Kingdom Hall once maybe then? See, I studied with the Witnesses (as I say, atheism is no excuse for ignorance). Here, I found it... On their website watchtower(dot)org/e/bh/article_06.htm "Where Are the Dead?" And the flagship scripture that they showed me was, "As for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all." Ecclesiastes 9:5.
1
@CaneFu I stopped that argument since you wanted to split hairs. Not sure why you brought it up again.
1
@CaneFu Your argument: No life after death is a very atheist idea. Your argument: Resurrection is life after death. Your argument falls apart: You believe, despite being an atheist, in life after death because dead people are resuscitated daily. "Life after death" refers to a spirit living in the body that persists after death. Consciousness after death without the body. This is a basic religious principle. You know this, you have to -- everyone does. You're just too stubborn to see it.
1
@CaneFu "Life after death" is the belief that there is a separate soul or ego that exists after the body has expired. Resurrection is not life after death.
1
@CaneFu Theism: The belief that at least one deity exists. Agnosticism: Said deity/deities is/are unknowable with current knowledge and understanding. They work together just fine. If Einstein states, "God doesn't play dice with the Universe," it proves he acknowledges the existence of a deity.
1
@CaneFu What amazes me is your stubbornness. It's blatantly clear you're completely wrong and yet you continue to bullheadedly argue an indefensible position.
1
@CaneFu No life after death being a VERY atheistic point of view? Nay, nay. Jehovah's Witnesses for instance believe that the Bible teaches there is no life after death.
1
@sariahtea Maybe you're not understanding my point, so let me bring it back around to specifically iterate my stance: I feel Mr. Dawkins is wrong and is proliferating hate speech. I hate the KKK for the same two reasons. They are therefore no different in my eyes. If you do not agree with this sentiment, then so be it. I wouldn't expect a Klan member to disagree with Klan teachings either.
1
@CaneFu LOL You're proven wrong with the definition of life after death proving that it is not the same as resurrection, and you get mad, type in all caps (no cussing though! cussing would mean you're not intelligent! caps is much better!) and storm off. Childish much? Look who has the emotional problems now. Tsk tsk.
1
@CaneFu I was arguing that specific point you made. You were wrong. No life after death is not a very atheist view. The end.
1
@CaneFu No, they believe the dead are dead and rotting in the ground. Yes, they believe in resurrection, but that's not life after death.
1
@CaneFu Look up Life After Death in Wikipedia. It brings up the entry for Afterlife which begins, "The afterlife...is the belief that a part of, or essence of, an individual which carries with it and confers personal identity survives the death of the body of this world and this lifetime, by natural or supernatural means." So, no resurrection =/= life after death.
1
@RSProjectX Then he needs to get over it and spend his time doing something more productive.
1
@CaneFu "Bring to life again." Resuscitation is resurrection. Therefore, you believe in life after death. I guess that means you're no longer an atheist as life after death is something you believe in. It's science.
1
@CaneFu And you generalize way too much for your own good. From Wikipedia's "Islamic views on evolution": "Muslims acknowledge God as the Creator, as explained in the Qur'an. Other than that, Muslim views on evolution vary." So, again, you're wrong.
