  4. He runs a business. He's earned the right to choose who works for him. An entitled person would be someone with zero skills you just hired to forward calls who feels they should have a say in who's hired or feels they're paid too little. You have no idea what entitled means.

  9. Yeah, I don't want to hire and put time into someone whose heart isn't going to be in the job. If someone can perform the job as well as you can (or even maybe a little less to start) but have heart, I'm going to pick them over you every time.

  10. I don't want to upend everything and my schedule because I just got a two-week (in some cases you may not even get that courtesy) from an employee who found a job paying .25 cents more an hour. Almost anyone can be taught to do anything, but you can't teach someone to have heart. You're the type of person who's prime for working in a cubicle in a job with high turnover. Your employer will treat you with as much heart as you have in your job.

If I ask you, "What do you think of the police?" and you answer, "I think the police are bad," I get from your answer that your responsibility and traits meter is on the collectivist side of things, and heart comes from a sense of personal responsibility as part of a whole, not a whole with responsibility attributed to the whole. This collectivism also often leads to the formation of nebulous "us vs. them" dichotomies based on any one of various criteria such as level of responsibility within the group, income/wealth, background, etc. which leads to you being an unhappy employee. Collectivists feel more fairness in a hive environment where the heat comes down on the team, the boss, or the company as a whole versus themselves feeling personally responsible for their part in failures and therefore learning more from those failures. This is just an example.

  12. John Grayson, and how much do you spend on a gallon of milk? It's about $2.50 a gallon here in the US while it's like $5 there, right? How about gas? It's $3 a gallon here, and there it's about $5 a gallon right (~4 liters)? Your minimum wage actually hurts workers. Here, you may get hired at minimum wage, but as long as you don't settle, it's quite easy to get $12-14 an hour with no experience, and we don't have to pay twice as much for basics.

This is probably what you probably consider to be a supporting argument of the previous sentence, but it's only another claim (the claim that having this question as a basis of hiring is dumb). This is also a straw man. This isn't an argument, but only a claim because you don't explain why this or the idea from the previous sentence are dumb/make no sense. This is a straw man because they are not hiring someone solely because they don't believe the police are good, but because of the underlying, holistic world view that brings about such a wording, as I argued before. "It says nothing about one's work ethic, skills, experience, why they want to work there, nothing." Restating again what you already said, but why does it say nothing about these things taking into account the specifics of why I said it does give indication of these things? "Has nothing to do with heart either," Summary dismissal again. "...just making a safe space of people who agree with you." Restating again what you already said. "Hell, they could be lying just to get the job..." Could be. Could also not be the case. No one claimed it was infallible, so it's a pointless truth. I'm hoping that breaking it down for you like this can help you make a legitimate argument.

Snowflake answer: "People shouldn't have guns; especially assault weapons." It's the same answer that you don't like guns, but the formulation and thought process of how you present it comes from two entirely different people with very different values.

  18. America's motto is to stay in school because you need knowledge to be competitive in your work. I don't know where you get that other stuff. School debt isn't a problem, growing or otherwise. Other than parroting what someone else told you is a problem, I don't know why you would think that. "No young American in school bragges about wanting a blue collar job." Really? They don't ever talk about wanting to be a police officer, a firefighter, a train engineer, a truck driver, a pilot, etc.? I think you just have a twisted view of what blue collar jobs are.

I don't know the policies and laws and common practices governing other countries as far as employment, but here, you're told at the time of salary negotiation something like, "Every two weeks of work, you accrue 2 hours of paid time off."

  34. tyg, the guy in the video is being expected to give sick days and vacation days without any work yet being done. So when people start, they would have 3 paid weeks of work to take off from day one if they wanted. That's a significant difference from accruing paid time off per paycheck.
