  1. I stand by Blackstone's formulation: It's better that 100 guilty go free than 1 innocent person be burdened with a conviction. That we have had to release so many innocent people shows that we have a concept of law in the US incongruent with Blackstone's reasoning.

  2.  @jakehr3  I think a zeitgeist moving away from an authoritarian sense of justice, and to one that people are inherently reticent to hand down a conviction would be so much better -- and much more peaceful.
