I honestly don't see anything that calls for him being pinned down until he died. And if he were resisting, I guarantee you that they couldn't have controlled that big dude with mild soft hand techniques. Yeah, he was non-compliant and agitated. I think this could have been deescalated, especially once they had him in cuffs and the officers could be relatively secure in their own safety. There would have been a great benefit here had appropriate deescalation training been exercised. You don't get that training in the police force by defunding their departments. And, no, abolishing the police is not a solution either. At all. You increase their funding; require that funding to go into ongoing deescalation training; and hire more officers so you're not running on burnt-out, overworked officers. This was an avoidable death. Officers did, through their actions, kill a man that was cuffed and posed little clear threat to them and the public. In that, I still agree with the charges being filed against them.

Ket Hal, no matter its usefulness, he was still in possession of an illegal NFA item and could now be arrested and convicted, being fined up to $500,000 and spend up to 15 years in prison.

LittleArmyNut, simple possession, regardless of use or intent to use, is enough to get you fined up to $500,000 and 15 years in prison.

john hakami, there was a man at a range who had an AR-15 malfunction and it fired in fully automatic mode. He did nothing to the rifle, it was a simple malfunction. He was arrested and charged for being in possession of an unlicensed and unregistered NFA item.

DJ RavenSkye, if the ATF does their job, he will be arrested. They arrested a man whose AR-15 malfunctioned and fired multiple rounds with a single trigger pull because it was technically an NFA weapon. I wouldn't be surprised if they did the same thing here.

Captain Obvious, it is a stupid reason, but that's the state of gun laws in the US.

Captain Obvious, nothing. Same as any other country.
