  1. Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security account for over half of our current total spending (Over $2 trillion). Expanding Medicare to cover everyone without compromising the market that brings useful research and cures (the US funds about half of the entire worlds R&D into medicine) would require we increase our spending by another 50% (an additional $2 trillion).

  2.  @hitoo37b34  The UK contributes, but if it were up to the UK, we wouldn't have cured Hep C yet, or have various cures for cancers forthcoming. If it were up to the UK, people would still be dying from Hep C that didn't need to. When you delay new cures, you cost lives.
