  1. Korea is different from China. Korea gets the US's back up in winning against Japan semiconductor industry. American has feud on Japan's consumer electronics overwhelmed its market , so it struck back Japan by assisting Korea.

  3. Manchuria was industrial base for Japan in mainland China while after WWII, the Soviet did help China establish early industrial there.

  4. The problem is not who takes over whom. But it is the perspective of industry. TSMC does chip maker work for any fabless semiconductor design while the Japanese do for themself.

  6. @Modox They had got tech transfer from US without restriction before. Nikhon , Cannon can buy any machines or parts from American electronic companies freely. But after Washington acted against it, Japan were restricted to some prohibition law. Such this EUV light source from Cymer Inc.

Also, Soviets did help China explore the 1st China's large oilfield " Da Ching" there. What it is funny was that when the Japanese had occupied Manchuria , they didn't know there were large oil fields under their feet. And thats why Japanese invaded south east Asia to steal oil there after US betrayed them by bannned them oil export in mid war.

  12. If you neatly scrutinize the EUV machine , you'll find it has far less set on lenses in the proless than DUV. Only some critical parts have to be broken in. So it is not so hard or so easy to build in near future.

But In view off business, they as people who doing business in bloodline will focus onto any mean that make them great profit in less time effort. Good businessmen don't focus on doing everything themself but make it best efficiency way by distributed to anyone who do its best in his fields.

  16. Airplane is a highmargin higest value added manufacturing on earth. From aluminium ore to an airplane one. Count it weight and expect how much the money value added in all through supply chain and huge employment. Thats why a big country who has it's market size and human potential can't ignore. Had Japan have it big market like China , It wouldn't have hesitate building it's own. Look at Brazil or Canada. The Canadian had it manufacturer Bombadier dissolved because of US pressure , not because Canadian plane does not good. So your comment seems to be a short sight.

For a small drug company , you have not power enough to persuade FDA the safe issuing approval particularly if the drug company is not American. So this mechanical in medicine cartel is complex.

  24. When American attacked Japan semiconductor industry then. Japan had not anything edge ,only making lower cost memory chip than American can do. But all IC chips are not memory ic. It is all ic types from memory to cpu ,analog ,digital ics, power ic. Out of memory chips, All ICs Japan has produced are licensed from US design. So it is very easy for American to stompt down Japan IC industries anytime.

  28.  @Emilechen  Japan development depend on patronage of the Anglo throughout the history. Apologize to say , Japanese is good in doing neat craftmanship. But they are not in creativity or innovation. Before WWII, Japan got knowledge from western countries mainly UK , make use it as a fence to block Russian empire which at that time expanding eastward. After WWII , Japan get patronaged from US in various sectors of industrials. Almost their products has been technology licensee from US. That told they are not capable on innovation. Ordinary people did not notice this. So they applause Japan on their products. China is different. Whatever technologies Japan can easily buying from US to make their products. But China cant buy. So its hard to compare among them. Japan in the past seems like Korea today. Living on patronage from US.

By the way, they have been made pay repatriate huge moeny from WWII while all their assets , factories and infrastructures were looted by the winner mostly US & UK. Even they intend to start building it , it seems too late.

  41. MRJ has no future since start. Consider there are 2 big players in the market already, The Canada Bombadier and Brazil Embraer. 100% of this segment market are belong to both. Japanese has not shear advantage in any technology ,given that both big players are well developed and has much experience. The amount on tech patronaged from US are the same. So, it's not any competition points by Japanese manufacturer.

  47. I wonder why they are preoccupied by EUV approach. Indulgent in this way make them confuse in complex probelms on each step in process. While some others initiate other way such leap to intense invest in X-rays lithography. X-rays lithography reduces or eleminates many steps problem occuring in EUV such mirror lens energy loss and precision control of the focus. While left problem to solve only photo resist chemical that abides to the energy level while movement precision are not stricted required because the light is so thin than error coverage. I think American knew it well , but kept it secret and made people in industry waste their effort and lost its way and time. This will keep American in going ahead of others.
