German can do battery themself. But it was because they couldn't quit their engine and transmission industry that made them stall.

German cars are in a different class from China cars. Direct competitor of German cars always Japanese luxury brands such as Lexus and Infinity. Moreover, Japan is keen to out winning German cars in the segment that they couldn't compete directly head-on. For example , German luxury limousine long-wheel base cars ,Mercedes S-klass , BMW 7 series are losing to Japanese semi-luxury MPV cars such as Toyota Alphard.

@xucg Battery tech is so easy. It is open tech in patent for so long. What Germany doesn't have is mines resources and intention to do because they're reluctant to leave their completeness on petro engine industries chain which they acquired for so long.

@xucg Those few big companies have the privilege of raw material supply chain. Ask yourself , how can German acquire Lithium or cobalt minerals in large quantities, no way. These materials are considered important logistics and they fall in hand of the Anglo circle. US gave this industry to vassals , Japan and Korea, allowing them in reach the supply. By the way , China is the exception. The Chinese has a large reservior of lithium on their own. Canada still chases and try to file a lawsuit against China claiming that China breached of its Lithium Ferrite battery patent.
