What’s the alternative? Lockdown forever? What makes you so certain a vaccine will ever be developed?

John Smith your attempted guilt trip didn’t answer my question. If a vaccine is never developed, then what is the alternative? Lockdowns forever?

And they never developed a vaccine for that either.

Jeo G Swedes aren’t “letting people die.” They just aren’t locking things down by force. As soon as a country releases from lockdown, the spike in deaths come in waves to balance out. Until a vaccine is developed, a lockdown is just artificial suppression of deaths. People get killed by cars by much higher numbers; telling people to stop driving saves many more lives, but how long can you realistically tell people to stop driving?

Darth Tater with Taiwan, you’re talking severe privacy intrusion and constant testing. It’s not sustainable.

Darth Tater thing is, contact tracing is only practical in a localized outbreak, before it gets too big. It’s useless in a pandemic once it’s taken root, since there’s just too many variables. And testing will soon run into trouble as the materials to make the kits become more scarce. One way or another, I think people will have to adopt Sweden’s method.
