But how is the West weakening Russia? I know it was their intention, but none of the sanctions seemed to have stuck? The average Russian citizen can go about their day without even thinking about the war?

Well, they need everything you mentioned just to tread water. If any element falters, they will suffer greatly. You can kiss another big offensive goodbye, at this point.

This guy thinks he's so smart, but he seems to overlook the big logic gap he made for himself. He says if Russia feels like it's losing the war, then they are more likely to use nukes. Then he says the most desirable outcome is if Ukraine makes a breakthrough and puts Russia on the backfoot. Which would...lead to nukes.

It's simple logic. Even Ukraine and the West admit Russia has the overwhelming artillery advantage. So these myths of Russians dying in massive numbers makes no sense.
