@eoinoconnell185 the West had been supporting Ukraine for a long time. That’s why Trump was impeached, remember? If Russia didn’t anticipate any of this, then they are certainly very adaptable.

@DrScopey2 industrialization will never go back to the US. They will just push it somewhere else, like Vietnam or India. And oil/gas are not as easy to replace. If you’re going to throw diplomacy out the window, you better have a good backup plan, other than telling your citizens to take cold showers.

@PjotrII the numbers you cite don’t seem too far off from any other country experiencing inflation and recession. And EU still buys Russian gas/oil, just that they have to use India as a middleman, so they can say they didn’t buy it from Russia. So Russia still sells gas, India then sells the gas they get at discount to EU for profit, and EU pays much higher prices.
