Some of you are confusing "hard work" with "menial work." Being a cab driver isn't hard; anyone can clearly do it, with the advent of GPS. It's literally just driving a car. The only "work" part of it is actually doing the task. Maybe it sucks, but that does not make it hard or skilled.

Kim O'Brien if your wages are going down, then that is a reflection of the demand for it. Should fast food employees get $15 minimum wage? Of course not, because anyone can do the job. People building and programming the kiosks to replace them? Those are the high paying jobs.

+Kim O'Brien, not here to read your manifesto. Uber rides have fair price structures, are convenient, and are quick. None of this can be said about taxis. Adapt or die. You sound like you would keep milkman, coal miner, and whale oil jobs just for the sake of preserving that way of life.

Nice try. The at-fault driver's insurance has to pay. If that isn't enough, Uber has 3rd party insurance coverage. You also have legal options to sue the company. Basically, in an accident, a taxi isn't significantly better if you get into an accident. Also, it is not our job to subsidize or nurture people into sustainable or future careers. The information is out there for all. Taxi driving is a simple job that any teenager can do as a side hustle, and thus, the pay should reflect that.
