  1.  @David-ws6zr yes. NATO forced Russia’s hand. Imagine it the other way: what if Russia/China started sending missiles and training troops in Canada or Scotland? You think the US or UK would allow that in their backyard peacefully?

  9.  @hunterphung3638  point is, China can’t even sign a defense agreement or build islands in its own waters without the US getting involved. And the whole point of the Monroe Doctrine is to not allow foreign influence in the western hemisphere at all costs. US wouldn’t end up in Russia’s situation because it’s actively engaged in wars and subterfuge far from its own borders.
