  5.  @AngryGnome87  a country at war is disqualified from joining NATO. So Russia will either wage a war for as long as Ukraine exists, or Ukraine will be annihilated. They could try a peace and neutrality, but the US/UK/Ukraine have reneged on Putin several times already, so he has no reason to trust them.
