  5.  @WhiteDragon689  if it’s just coastal shelling, then how’s that naval warfare? No doubt the US has large, expensive carriers, but everyone has since developed hypersonic missiles. Why even attempt to catch up to the US fleet?

  8.  @henkhenk7467  it’s a fun thought exercise. But if it came to blows, China would not fight a head-on naval war, since it’s pointless to try to play catch up with the US Navy. I’d expect more asymmetry tactics and countermeasures.
