  2. The ex-general misses the point that Ukraine inherited a formidable Soviet air defense. NATO would have had just a difficult time cracking it. Keep in mind, NATO has never confronted a near-peer with solid anti-air systems.

  4. These aren’t half measures. The West has nothing left to give. And if you send long range missiles, Russia will be forced to extend the line on contact to make sure their people are out of range, which means Ukraine loses even more territory.
