  1. Soledar is to encircle Bakhmut from the North. The South had already been cut off. And that defensive line took NATO 8 years to build, so dismantling it in a few months by a mercenary group is impressive.

  2.  @eardwulf785 if the Ukrainians don’t flee from Bakhmut now on their last remaining road, then their backs are again wide open field land, which Russians will pick off easily. There is no Ukraine fire support in the rear. As far as Donbass goes, Bakhmut is the last stop.
