Efficient mining takes advantage of energy inefficiencies. And what is the environmental impact of gold mining, traditional banking, credit card payments, etc?

@trillistseth you have to take into account the entire carbon footprint of the credit card industry: buildings, employees, etc. Also, crypto mining is all about finding cheap sources of energy to mine more efficiently. If you are using expensive power, you will lose. In other words, crypto mining is like putting a bucket under a dripping faucet to capture water. The current payment system is like directing all the water to the faucet.
