  1. Southern California is a desert environment that has adapted to wildfires over millions of years. In fact a lot of nature there relies on those fires. What humans have done is settled on a force of nature and tried to terraform it. And by constantly extinguishing fires, they are building up larger stock of fuel that will lead to super fires, which the environment is not accustomed to. In most situations, the correct solution is to let the fires burn themselves out naturally, and not try to control it.

  3. Yup, the environment has adapted to the fires long before humans arrived. Then humans act shocked when nature does something it’s consistently done for millions of years.
