  3. Wagner is just the most visible, since it’s the first to fight in a real war. Other countries have had PMCs for years, like Blackwater. People have warned about the dangers of PMC proliferation.

  4. From what I understand, the Wagner group in Ukraine is separate from Wagner global. They were formed by Donbas and Russian citizens specifically to fight in Ukraine.

  5.  @adaffro his. If Ukraine is going to launch cross raids into Belgorod with rogues that it claims are not in its control, then Putin can play that game too. And now Wagner is less than 150 km from Kiev and the world sees them as nutcase rogues. All Putin has to do is shrug and say, “hey, y’all saw what I had to deal with. The dude is crazy.”
