So Ukraine admits they are trying to retake Bakhmut for symbolism and not strategy.
162
So…AFU walked themselves right into a kill pocket. Krynky and Robotyne all over again.
125
IDF is just as trustworthy as the AFU.
95
Surrendering is what a lot of Ukrainians did. Best choice they’ll ever make.
78
It really feels like the ending of All Quiet on the Western Front, where the commander sends his troops on a final suicide offensive out of pride.
65
And these are losses trying to just get to the 1st line of defense. How does the AFU hope to secure the areas they enter?
65
NAFO also likes to tease Russia for still using T55s, but a lot of countries still do. And Russia has huge stockpiles of them, so why not use them up?
52
If the US admits Israel is unpredictable, and they don’t want to get dragged into their war, then maybe they should stop giving them money and weapons in “ironclad” support?
46
As far as I’m concerned, nothing “significant” happens until the 1st defense line is reached. Anything else is apparent that Russia is willing to give.
45
AFU sacrificing all those men for what? It's not like that Tiktok brigade will be able to hold on to any of that territory for more than a few days.
41
Such an obvious trap and they walked into it anyway.
35
Also, you can see NATO vehicles gunning down AFU that try to retreat. So it’s harder for Ukraine to hide their anti-retreat forces.
34
Need more TikToks
28
And now they’ve been improved with washing machines from China and refrigerators from N Korea.
27
Maybe throw in some Gundams and Star Destroyers too.
25
@t.n.h.ptheneohumanpatterna8334 ow much would you prefer? The #1 army in the world couldn’t even hold Afghanistan.
21
@grahamcroston Ukraine became a totalitarian regime when its democratically-elected government was overthrown by a US-back coup. And what democracy? Zelensky has suspended elections, banned opposition Parties, censoring critical media,, jailed dissidents, etc.
21
You mappers overreacted in Krynky, Robotyne, Belgorod, etc. Y'all need to look at the big picture.
19
There needs to be UN observers at the hospital to prevent IDF from planting evidence.
16
What makes you think Trump would end the wars? He certainly didn’t in his first term.
16
@bryancourtney2207 they're not taking anything. They are slogging through the gray zone and haven't even reached the 1st layer of defense.
15
@fritszuidema7628 Any opinions of the atrocities the Kyiv regime was committing on the Donbas people since 2014?
15
There's just no realistic way for this counteroffensive to work. They need air protection and artillery screening to protect their anti-mining teams. Something the AFU just doesn't have.
15
Releasing a Summer teaser trailer to announce that there will be no announcement.
15
I don’t think the Ukrainians watched Star Wars. The high ground is important.
13
@jaarneal It would be like Russia or China staging weapons and men at the Mexican border. Would that be insignificant to the US? Would the US react in an "unprovoked" manner?
13
It seems like such an obvious trap. But never underestimate the AFU’s willingness to walk straight into a trap.
13
This offensive was the AFU's last chance. Every iteration of the AFU gets exponentially weaker.
13
Gotta please the shareholders. If Zelensky didn't do it, he loses money and weapons donations. It's a cruel paradox.
12
Zelensky will ask Japan for Gundams.
12
As expected of a Hollywood entertainer, like Zelensky, to put out a Summer teaser trailer for his offensive. Real lives involved, and he treats it like a media project.
12
I don’t think the AFU can even retreat from Krynky. Those boats are 1 way.
12
It’s like the ending of All Quiet in the Western Front. Zelensky is the commander sending his troops on a final suicide mission for his pride.
11
@RN1441 and NAFO was closing Russia for the cope cages. But if they are the Challengers, I’m sure they will now say it’s a brilliant NATO tactic.
10
@frenzalrhomb6919 Russia already explained its objective was to create a buffer zone for Belgorod. What’s the AFU’s objective here?
10
@jbrown7063 they control 20% of Ukraine (taking more by the day) and defeated the AFU’s grand Spring Offensive. Russia’s military is damn good.
9
What's crazy is that the AFU should know this. Most of their top brass were from the same Soviet schools. Listening to "superior" NATO tactics was the worst mistake Ukraine made.
9
If NATO knows the trainees being sent to them are suboptimal, then it’s a war crime to send them back to the frontline. EU should be granting them asylum instead.
8
Bay of Pigs 2.0
8
Is that what you said in Krynky, Robotine, Belgorod, etc?
8
@ssglbc1875 that’s the thing. It will make headlines and NAFO bots will be running laps. But strategically, they just fought and died just to go back into the meat grinder again.
8
War changes a man. And Prigozin was never a military man to begin with, so he isn't even trained to deal with the aftermath of his victory in Bakhmut. I think he just lost his marbles.
7
@BenDover-1 Lancaster is actually out in the field. You know, like a real journalist. All your NAFO sources hang out in the cafes and clubs of Kiev.
7
@jaarneal Russia's initial invasion worked: It got Zelensky to the negotiating table, but it was the US and UK that forced him to renege on the deal. And Putin opted for a limited SMO because he was uncertain how the sanctions would affect his economy and the war was unpopular in Russia at the time. But now the sanctions have done nothing and the Russian people have realized how much NATO hates them and have rallied to Putin, so he is more confident in elevating this war.
7
Bro was panicking on day 1 of the Kursk incursions. These mappers freak out over any little thing from the AFU. They already forgot Krynky, Robotyne, Belgorod, etc
7
Real life Thanos snap.
7
How so?
6
@jcym9058 Not even close to apples-to-apples comparison. Bakhmut had been fortified by NATO for the past 8 years and was deemed impregnable. That's nothing close to empty fields and farmhouses the AFU are "liberating."
6
The Russians were probably wondering if they should shoot it, but they decided to see what would happen.
6
@theorncampbell4432 the AFU’s problem is that their best units were lost last year. As time goes on, their troops are suffering from abridged training and working with a hodgepodge of non-uniform weapons. The Ukraine side gets weaker after every iteration.
