Consider this:
If species do not get off of this planet Earth and out of this solar system, we ALL die and go extinct. So, at least some of us from Earth need to get out of this solar system if we want anything or anyone at all to be remembered from Earth, (excluding the space probes and our EMR signals).
So, after we physically die, have our body cremated and send the ashes, atoms and molecules of our body to the Moon to be put in some crater to help enrich the soil. By giving up our body, others might continue to live as they venture out of this solar system as well as possibly have life more abundantly too. And what better "headstone" than the Moon itself? This could even help fund the space program. The same principal could be set up for Mars and beyond.
I could even see a whole business set up around this.
a. Send robots to the moon to build infrastructure for other robots.
b. Have those robots then build infrastructure for humans and other species.
c. We learn to live off of this planet Earth in basically our own backyard. We have a lot of problems that need to be solved to get out of this solar system.
d. The ISS will not last forever and will need to be replaced. Why not a moon base instead?
So, mix my ashes of my body in the soil of the Moon and "eat me" and continue to live. Otherwise, we all go extinct here on this Earth and all of life itself is ultimately meaningless in the grand scheme of things. It's all just an illusion, an illusion that will all end one day and be forgotten. Or so it currently appears.
