EVEN 'IF' Ukraine says it will never join NATO in a peace deal, and even 'if' Russia totally leaves Ukraine, especially in southeast Ukraine and in Crimea in that peace deal, (of which Putin does not want to do, but even 'if', otherwise Putin would still have a 'net win' with the invasion of Ukraine), then this is still a warning message to other nations around Russia. Join NATO now while you still have a chance to, otherwise Russia might attack you next and have a peace deal whereby you could never join NATO either. Join NATO now while you can and have the full backing of NATO. And 'if' Russia does not leave southeast Ukraine AND Crimea, well the rest of the 'free' world could still maintain the massive sanctions against Russia because the rest of the 'free' world is not a part of that peace deal. Then Putin and Russia would still eventually have a 'net loss' in this invasion of Ukraine.

  2.  @tedbundy1769  "One does not simply join NATO. The process takes about 8 years." So I guess some nations ought to get started now if they haven't already. Otherwise, Russia could attack them next, and in a 'peace deal' make it so they can never join NATO. Otherwise, if and when Russia (or some other non-NATO nation attacks them), they won't have the full backing of NATO, with all the consequences and ramifications, seen and unseen, of their choice to not join NATO.
