@omi_god Agreed. Local governments also increase the value of homes so as to get more relative tax revenue and to be able to claim their area is a 'high dollar valued area'. Add to this economic inflation, whereby not only prices go up, especially for needed items, but the quantity and quality of those items also go down. So the consumer gets a multiple whammy. Taxes and cost of living go up, they are getting less for their time and efforts, and the cost of living allowances they get, if any, do not keep up with the true cost of inflation, and inflation in their area of living. And a person with zero income, for whatever reason, sometimes not of their own doing, is still zero income. But they have a larger hill to climb just to get a basic standard of living.
And then add to all that, ONLY those species who get off of this Earth will possibly continue to survive longer into the future. Eventually, ALL life upon this Earth, and even the Earth itself, will all be gone one day.
Space travel has gotten more expensive just in my lifetime. What is space travel going to cost in the next 100, 1000, 1 million years from now? Economic inflation just might be a contributing factor to all life upon this Earth going extinct. And in part, we did it to ourselves.
