"IF" Putin (Russia) gets to keep even one foot of Ukraine's soil, (much less Crimea and/or southeast Ukraine), Putin will see that he has won, no matter how many 'loyal' Russian soldiers had to suffer and die to get that land.

@AzuNekomiya Why also freedom of speech and the freedom of the press is so important to a 'free' society. Otherwise tyrants might come to rule and the citizens suffer.

@Nonameisperfect One could hope. I was trying to get inside Putin's head and see reality from his perspective. I can see himself saying 'he won', even if he gets to keep one foot of Ukraine's soil, no matter what it cost the Russian people. For him, it's the cost of war.

@Nonameisperfect How can the Russian civilians see and hear what is going on when Putin controls what the citizens see, hear and are even allowed to talk about in public? Other than word of mouth from person to person in secret, how can the Russian citizens become educated as to what is going on so as to uniformly act?

@AzuNekomiya We have to deal with life how it is, and strive to make life how we would like it to be. (But Putin is doing the same thing too). We have to be smarter and/or stronger than Putin one way or another to have 'our' will overcome 'his' will. (So as to not have perpetual war, of which some entities like the military industrial complex even here in America, of course probably would not mind. Perpetual profits in America's Capitalistic economic system which undermines the peace process.) How do we make the military industrial complex like peace rather than war?

@AzuNekomiya Oh and also, besides the military industrial complex, consider also people like the US President has more powers when America is at war, so the US President makes sure America is always at war. How do we make people like the US President like peace rather than war?

@AzuNekomiya Has there been much of a time when America was not at war with somebody somewhere, even if America has to start that war? But consider also, the ONLY thing that might save any species from this Earth is a successful proactive space program (if it even can be truly successful for various reasons). All other life on this Earth is going to die and go extinct. Where would species from this Earth be today 'if' all the money and resources spent on war were spent on a proactive successful space program? We do not have to defeat our enemies, we only have to outlast them beyond this Earth. Nature will wipe out the left behind enemies for us. What good is life if no entity is left to live it? What good is money if no entity is left to spend it?

@TheTen20 Life has no benefits. Spoiler alert: All life on and from this Earth eventually dies and goes extinct. Currently, no exceptions.
