Consider the following:
a. Un-manned, underwater subs with a 'device' on-board. Can hug the bottom of the ocean and then go vertical underneath a ship. A fleet of these subs, AI controlled, could take out a fleet of ships, possibly bridges, possibly disrupt ports, and maybe even some tunnels. One moment in time a nation has a powerful navy, next moment in time not so much.
b. Nuclear power plants give off neutrinos. Tri-angulating neutrino detectors and one could potentially find 'hidden' nuclear powered subs in the deep oceans.
c. BUT, Earthling's have bigger issues to deal with.
1. Species stay on this Earth, they all eventually die and go extinct.
2. Species leave this Earth, they all eventually die and go extinct.
* Possibly 6th mass extinction event underway due to Earth's magnetism issues.
* Sun is supposed to become a red giant one day and will wipe out all life on this Earth if not even the entire Earth itself. Sure, a long time from now, but the destination is set like a way point on a journey.
* Our spiral shaped galaxy is most probably collapsing in upon itself.
* Note also: The singular big bang theory is a fairy tale for various reasons, 'space' is not expanding like is currently claimed, and the universe is most probably not going to end in a big freeze.
MIHO: Mission Impossible of the Highest Order:
Try to save at least one single species on and from this Earth to continue to exist beyond this Earth, solar system, most probably collapsing spiral shaped galaxy, in a universe that will always exist and always be active as galaxies and life come and go in this eternally existent existence. (Currently impossible to do for various reason, hence the 'Mission Impossible').
