  2. It depends on each person. My gums are gummy so accumulate plaque easily no matter what. But after a traumatic clearnin I stopped going for 2 yrs and the gums were a MESS. Also my aunts had perfect teeth throughout their young years and never went to the desert but now in their 50s their teeth and gums are pretty bad.
