Music industry in general is pretty much dead and broke, there are many famous artists trying to do what you do Rick.

There's been a general trend for 100 years towards more economical musical acts in popular music, and popular music was great for about 100 years. BIg band/musicals/classical -> Bass+Rhythm+Melody on guitar -> Synthesized/keyboard. So that trend alone doesn't necessarily explain why music is bad nowadays.

Great artists of the past often sounded waaaay better live, more authentic and less procesed. Now its the complete opposite of course.

Maybelle Carter started the American popular music golden age, so I guess it was from 1927-2000(ish). She's up there with Shakespeare and Cervantes as a cultural figure who defined their genre.

Even American Bandstand had great live performances, remember those? Other similar European shows like Top Pop, Beat Club, Old Grey Whistle Test, etc., all on youtube. Great acts usually sounded waay better live than studio, if that's even imaginable.
