  3. Remember when Rolling Stones magazine would turn you onto new obscure great bands?? And in films, Ebert was on all the time on TV, a man actually passionate and extremely knowledgeable about films. Those days are gone.

  4. Play your kids a famous Yes song, they must have heard one on TV or commercials and I'm guessing liked it.

  5. PBS had things like American Masters and Burn's documentaries on jazz and country.

  7. PBS also used to show things like Joffrey Ballet faithfully reinterpreting Stravinsky-Njinski Rite of Spring. It's wild, and thankfully on youtube.

  9. Even American Bandstand had great live performances, remember those? Other similar European shows like Top Pop, Beat Club, Old Grey Whistle Test, etc., all on youtube. Great acts usually sounded waay better live than studio, if that's even imaginable.
