  1. In case you're hating on Christians because some of them say the earth is flat, here's what the Bible says: Isaiah 40:22 "God sits above the circle of the earth." A former pastor of mine, who understands ancient Hebrew, says "circle" can mean "sphere", particularly when used poetically as it is here; we do the same in English. Job 26:7 "God stretches the northern sky over empty space and hangs the earth on nothing." Now THE EARTH IS A SPHERE, FLOATING IN EMPTY SPACE, ACCORDING TO THE BIBLE. The Bible also has several references to the "pillars of the earth" (1 Samuel 2:8; Job 9:6; Psalm 75:3), which are obviously poetic; the Bible also refers to the "four corners of the earth" (Isaiah 11:12; Revelation 7:1); again, these are obviously figurative terms that we use today.
