  1. I would rather base an argument ON logic. If it's based OFF logic, what's it based ON? Perhaps personal feelings - so you may be contradicting yourself (you don't want arguments based on logic and also not on personal feelings). If something is not on its base, well, that's why we have the term "off-base", i.e. an off-base argument is unfounded (not on its foundation) nonsense.

  2.  @tazsayago5948  "Based off" is a habit I've noticed that many people have picked up in the past few years; I like to steer them back on track by pointing out the absurdity, but, rereading my own comment, sorry, it might have sounded a bit harsh.
