  1. Most go into giant landfills. There are some people who insist they're recyclable, but like most recycling, that's minimal at best.

  5. Of course they can be turned on and off. They have maintenance shutdowns. It just takes time to wait for the boiler to cool off & then heat up again, so it's impractical to turn them on and off on a daily basis.

  7. Ha! How did one of China's poorer and remote provinces become home to the largest wind farm? Because it's poor and remote!

  8. If they're going to ruin the environment with these things, at least they could put them closer together so they take up less space.

  9. A plus for China is that they got rid of their birds a long time ago, so there are none for the turbines to kill.
