The wording of the statute is specific about whether deadly force is permissible. The insane thing is, if she'd just shot him, it would have been legal. It was a justified shoot, it just looked bad. The prosecution went way outside the law in their "evidence". Just awful.

I'm going to just say it: Wright deserved to die. It wasn't Potter's fault. Given the context, for Wright NOT to be operating under the assumption that "cops are looking for any excuse to shoot black people", yet he still tried to flee. Suicide by cop. If I knowingly drink bleach, I deserve to die. If I run blindfolded across a busy motorway, I deserve to get hit. I have no sympathy for Wright or his parents - if they'd done a better job, maybe he wouldn't have toured out to be a thug who has warrants hot his arrest. This isn't about "back the blue, no matter who" - this is about justice, right and wrong. If she was corrupt, I'd be calling for the book to be thrown, but she was the model of what a cop is supposed to be.

@mikelee7318 🤣 That's the crazy think. The ONLY person responsible for the death of Daunte Wright, is Daunte Wright.

Plus, she was in FTO mode. This adds additional factor outside the normal day-to-day. It could well be simply the additional cognitive load of this that tipped the scales... Again, this is all backed by research from the airline industry, as the defence expert talked about.

@alandavis6429 What are you talking about? The arrest was lawful. Did you even watch the trial?

@dlondon1144 And why instructors scream at you constantly to put you under pressure...

@darkpill 1. The model she had is black on the top and rear, so is MUCH easier to confuse with a firearm. 2. Under stress, that kid of detail perception goes out of the window, because you focus on the threat. 3. You have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.
3
@theincantrix1144 Yeah, I know. In the UK, they're classed as a firearm. Unfortunately for Potter, that's not the case in MN.

@Doxymeister How many cops will just stop carrying Tasers? How many will contract COVID - or have been in contact with someone, so need to self-isolate - over the next couple of days?
3
@edward2516 I refer you to the testimony of the former chief of police, who was dragged by a car driven by a fleeing suspect. She had the grounds to use deadly force BECAUSE OF HIS ACTIONS, not hers or anyone else's.
3
@darkpill Wait, you mean the part of the Taser that's COMPLETELY HIDDEN BY THE HAND??? 🤦♂️🤦♂️ Get a brain.

@wolfie54321 Precisely. How anyone could listen to the defence expert who studied this and NOT have reasonable doubt leads me to concur with the assessment that "no cop can receive a fair trial in the twin cities".

@HUBABUBA-il8fn Yep, and I agree, there's no other way to view this but malicious prosecution.
